“Have it your way!”
Now be honest. |When you read that did you instantly think of a fast food restaurant? That advertising campaign was effective for one HUGE reason. We all want everything our way. It’s the nature of every one of us as a manifestation of our pride and selfish desires.
But what if instead of that statement being said to us it became the heart-motivated statement we say to God? Our pride demands that the statement be said to us. The heart of Christ in us compels us to say it to the Father.
The Apostle Paul did. Elijah did. Moses did. Abraham did. Do I need to go on? One more. Isaiah did, in chapter sixty-four verse eight. “Yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.”
Does the clay ever tell the potter what it wants to be? Does the pot ever complain after it is designed? Life becomes immeasurably more secure when we say to God, “Have it your way.”
